Biography:
DJ Relapse was born and raised in the heart of New York City, the Lower East Side of Manhattan. His love for music grew at an early age as he was influenced by the various cultures around him.

"I was always in tuned with everything around me and am fortunate to have been raised in such a diverse place. My mother would play old school Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and House almost every Saturday morning. Walking up the street you would hear Hiphop, Reggae, Reggaeton and almost everything else in between." This diversity would soon sculpt the foundation of his unique playlist. After attending school in Upstate New York, he realized that the club scene was lacking originality in both the selection of music as well as the general atmosphere. DJ Relapse wanted to change this and also needed a way to make some money. What better way to use his love for music to accomplish both tasks. "I lived in a studio apartment and was struggling to pay bills. I had to do something immediately and remember breaking out this computer software and practicing 3-4 hours a day. It was an immediate addiction. I remember how it all started. It was a Friday night and I got called to do a big party in Buffalo, NY. I was okay, but wasn't as prepared as I wanted to do for my first event. Everybody had a good time and liked my selection in music. From there I knew what I had to do and practiced a lot. Day in and day out in order to compete and stand out from the rest. I soon started listening to other DJ's and constantly thought - I can do what they do, but make it even better. Before I knew it, I was mashing up tracks in a unique way and creating sets that were high energy, wild out type music."
